Printing Guidelines

Customization

Thanks to our state-of-the-art machinery, hitprintasia can provide you with a range of techniques to apply your logo to a garment of your choice.

Our printing and embroidery machinery will bring your logo to life on any garment. However, there are factors, like the material of your garment, which you should consider before you decide on what kind of application you wish to use.

As a brief guide to help you choose what method of customisation is best for you we have put together a few points on each type of logo application.

Print

Printing gives you many advantages: it's durable and it can create unique and complex designs using extremely vivid colours' we use the highest quality printing machines to guarantee the highest quality end product to leave you with a smile on your face. There are a range of different print techniques available, and one may be more appropriate than the others depending on the garments you are using or the complexity of your logo. As an overview we can use screen print, Heat Transfer or DTG  - these methods are explained below.

Screen Printing

If your logo has bright and vibrant colours then screen printing could be the best choice for you to bring those colours to life. This process is advised for multiple garments with the same design. Screen printing uses multi-coloured inks to recreate your logo, which are then applied to the garment through mesh screens. Once we have received your logo, it is then separated into different colours for each screen, after each screen the garment will be put under a heat lamp then once each colour screen has been applied the garment will go through a drying process to ensure the ink does not wear or wash out. This process is great for a range of different garments from t-shirts to hoodies, this type of logo application works great for big back designs where multiple garments are using the same logo. Screen printing is for larger orders.

Screen Printing

DTG

DTG, or Direct to Garment print, is a method that sees a printer directly apply ink to the garment (as the name suggests).To ensure the highest quality application when applying ink directly to a garment, a specialist printer is required, along with specialist ink which is absorbed by the fibres of the garment. A fixing agent is also applied to the garments before they go into production to help the colour adhere to the garments. Due to this, the garments will often need to be washed before they are worn the first time to take away the slight smell of the fixing agent. This type of customisation is best for complex logos and multiple colours, typically used for one off, full colour jobs needed with a fast turn around. This type of print works particularly well with t-shirts and hoodies.

DTG

Heat Transfer

The third and final way we can print on a garment is by transfer, the best way to think of transfer is comparable to the names and numbers on the back of a football shirt. A sheet of vinyl is carefully cut into the specific shape of your logo or design, the remaining design is then flipped and finally heat sealed onto the garment using a heat press.

A vinyl transfer is great for less complex designs with low colours, typically a logo with 1-2 colours would be applied with this method. This process works well for relatively low quantity orders. Vinyl transfer is suitable for the majority of garments (apart from fleece and wool) we recommend this process for Hi-Vis garments.

 

Embroidery

Embroidered garments are ideal for a number of purposes, the most popular of which being used by employers to give their workforce a strong identity and help to promote their brand.

With this technique when adding a logo to your garment via embroidery, a metal frame is placed onto the garment and backing fabric is applied to the logo area. This ensures that the garment is secure while the logo is stitched. Occasionally, this process may leave a mark on the garment but is nothing that can’t be easily rubbed or washed off. The actual embroidery process is carried out by a computerised embroidery machine. Your logo is digitised and submitted to the embroidery machines, with the process beginning once additional instructions like the colour of the threads have also been submitted. We use only the best threads and embroidery machines to guarantee the highest quality result.

In terms of suitability, embroidery tends to work the best on polo shirts, business shirts/blouses, aprons/tabards, jackets & headwear.

Other notes

To adhere to our own quality standards, we do not provide embroidery on garments that have a weight under 180gsm (the reason for this is because the material is so thin it cannot hold the embroidery and therefore tends to pukker, we therefore don't offer embroidery on thin garments as it doesn't give the polished logo appearance that we pride ourselves on). Due to the same reasons, we also do not offer printing via DTG on garments that are 100% Polyester as the fabric cannot hold the print (screen print can be used as an alternative print method - but this service is only available on larger quantity orders of 20 garments and above).

To avoid unnecessary charges and delays and to ensure you receive the highest quality customisation please review our artwork guidelines below.

Should you not have the artwork in a format suitable for customisation we can convert (re-draw) your file to a suitable type for a fee of 300hkd. Of course you will be notified and ask for confirmation prior to this work taking place.

 

PRINT

Vector AI files and EPS files

Vector Illustrator and EPS files are the preferred files types. It's easy to differentiate between vectors and other formats. If you zoom into a vector, you will see no jagged edges or distortion. If you zoom into a bitmap, the image and edges will become blocky.

Don't create a bitmap file and then save it as a AI or EPS file - it's still a bitmap and would be unusable unless we re-draw it for a fee.

 

 

 

PRINT

Pantone spot colours

All colours should be converted to spot colours. Within Illustrator and other packages, individual colours can be selected and changed to their Pantone equivalents. Please refer to the software documentation, or browse the Internet for more details. When we screenprint, we first print one colour, then print a second colour, etc. This is the reason why we need colour separated files. We can then easily print out the files in colour separation.

PRINT

Adobe PDF files

PDFs must be created from vector files and maintain edit capabilities.

Don't create a bitmap file and then save it as a PDF file - it's still a bitmap and would be unusable and would be liable for a re-draw fee.

EMBROIDERY

High resolution JPG, BMP, TIF, EPS, AI

All files types are accepted as long as the resolution is high quality. For all first time customers there is a 250hkd fee for logos or graphics to be converted into a embroidery format (digitising), this is a one off fee and your embroidered artwork will be held on file for future orders. Embroidery text has a 50hkd set up fee.

Mecilla company is a supporter and licensed trader of Fair trade cotton products. For every Fairtrade item you purchase, a premium will be deposited to the Fairtrade fund to support worldwide Fairtrade activities.

The key objectives of the Fairtrade standards are to: 

Ensure that producers receive prices that cover their average costs of sustainable production; provide an additional Fair trade Premium which can be invested in projects that enhance social, economic and environmental development; enable pre-financing for producers who require it; facilitate long-term trading partnerships and enable greater producer control over the trading process; set clear core and development criteria to ensure that the conditions of production and trade of all Fair trade certified products are social, economically fair and environmentally responsible. Core requirements and development requirements Fair trade standards distinguish between core requirements, which producers must meet to be certified, and development requirements that encourage producers to continuously improve and to invest in the development of their organizations and their workers. This concept is developed for the target group of Fair trade; disadvantaged producers and workers. It encourages sustainable, social, economic and environmental development of producers and their organizations.

The following common principles are considered in all Fair trade standards applicable to small-scale producers and workers and their organizations:

1) Social development:

For small-scale producers, Fair trade standards

require an organizational structure that allows the producers to actually bring a product to the market. All members of the organization need to have access to democratic decision-making processes and as far as possible participate in the activities of the organization. The organization needs to be set up in a transparent way for its members and must not discriminate any particular member or social group.

 In hired labor situations the Fair trade standards require the company to bring social rights and security to its workers. Some of the core elements are: training opportunities, non-discriminatory employment practices, no child labour, no forced labour, access to collective bargaining processes and freedom of association of the workforce, condition of employment exceeding legal minimum requirements, adequate occupational safety and health conditions and sufficient facilities for the workforce to manage the Fair trade Premium.

2) Economic development:

For all products, Fair trade standards require the buyers to pay a Fair trade Minimum Price and/or a Fair trade Premium to the producers. The Fair trade Minimum Price aims to help producers cover the costs of sustainable production. The Fair trade Premium is money for the producers or for the workers on a plantation to invest in improving the quality of their lives. Premium money in this sense is meant to improve the situation of workers, farmers and local communities in health, education, environment, economy etc. The farmers or workers decide the most important priorities for themselves and manage the use of the Fair trade Premium.

Furthermore, Fair trade standards require buyers to give a financial advance on contracts, called pre-financing, if producers ask for it. This is to help producers to have access to capital and so overcome what can be one of the biggest obstacles to their development. This promotes entrepreneurship and can assist the economic development of entire rural communities.

2 ) 經濟發展 :

3) Environmental development:

Fair trade standards include requirements for environmentally sound agricultural practices. The focus areas are: minimized and safe use of agrochemicals, proper and safe management of waste, maintenance of soil fertility and water resources and no use of genetically modified organisms. Fair trade standards do not require organic certification as part of its requirements. However, organic production is promoted and is rewarded by higher Fair trade Minimum Prices for organically grown products.

 3 ) 環境開發 :

 4) Forced labor and child labor:

Forced labor and child labor are prohibited in the Fair trade standards.Principles for small producer organizations and hired labor situations. Besides the common principles described above, there are specific principles that apply to small producer organizations and hired labor situations.    

  • Principles specific to small producer organizations. Members must be small producers. The majority of the members of the organization must be smallholders (small-scale farmers)  who don’t depend on hired workers all the time but run their farm mainly by using their own and their family’s labor. Democracy, profits should be equally distributed among the producers. All members have a voice and vote in the decision-making process of the organization. 
  • Principles specific to hired labor situations. Management of the Fair trade Premium. The Joint Body, which includes workers and management, is responsible for the management of the Fair trade Premium in accordance with Fair trade standards. Freedom of association & collective bargaining, workers has the right to join an independent union to collectively negotiate their working conditions. Working conditions are equitable for all workers. Salaries must be equal or higher than the regional average or than the minimum wage.  Health and safety measures must be established in order to avoid work-related injuries. 4) 剝削人權和童工 :

Shipping

All products and services prices appearing in Hitprint website do not include costs of shipping to you or your customers which shall be borne by you separately.

Shipping at the minimum requires 1-2 business days for Hong Kong delivery. Actual delivery time depends on location and your preferred delivery mode.

Orders are not processed on weekends. Partial shipments are accepted.

Please provide the correct address details.

You may request use of a specific carrier. 

All orders are shipped pre-paid unless previously approved for in our credit terms. Processing of credit applications can take approximately one week. Credit approval delays may affect shipment.

For collection orders, orders not picked up within 7 days of order will be restocked with a 5% restocking fee of the total amount. Valid for 1 month only after which Hitprint has the right to decide with the stock.

Cancellation and Revision

All cancellations are subject to Hitprint's approval. Cancellations cannot be accepted on orders for garments and print after production has commenced. Any revisions to orders in process may be subject to a service charge.

Refund Policy

We will not be held responsible for refund once you paid.

Production Tolerance

For custom garments, Hitprint overcuts / undercuts order quantities by approximately 5% in order to prevent shortages / surplus. We normally will charge actual production quantity within the 5% tolerance.

Print Tolerance

2cm print location tolerance in height and width.

Processing of customer supplied materials

We will not be held responsible for loss or damage during processing of any materials which you supply in any circumstances.

Please inform us the information via fax or email and organize your garment/material before your shipment to Hitprint as below:

  • Material description
  • Material quantity of each size and colour with total quantity
  • Number of package shipped
  • Name of shipping company
  • Tracking number
  • Organize the garment by style, size, color and quantity

We will not be held responsible for loss or damage of goods during transit. We suggest shipping items via delivery with tracking to gain proof of delivery and / or a tracking number. You have to bear the responsibility for all shipping and freight charges. Please be noted that these orders may require additional processing time.

Please be advised checking your materials before shipping as we will charge for prior quality check of your materials.

客戶提供的材料處理

若您提供的任何材料在過程中貨物遺失或損壞,在任何情況下,我們將不負責。

發貨前,請透過傳真或電子郵件告訴我們您的訂單資料以及發貨前整理服裝/材料如下:

  • 材質描述
  • 每個尺寸和顏色的材料數量與總數量
  • 包裝出貨的數目
  • 運輸公司的名稱
  • 運輸追蹤號碼
  • 由樣板,尺寸,顏色和數量整理服裝

我們將不負責運輸過程中的貨物遺失或損壞。我們建議運送物品時用掛號獲得交付或查詢號碼的證明。您必須承擔全部運輸和運費的責任。請注意,這些訂單可能需要額外的處理時間。

請僅記在發貨前檢查你的材料,若要我們預先為你的材料進行質量檢查,便會額外收費。

為了保障你自己,我們建議您使用我們的全系列產品和服務。

Q4: What graphic format is required?

  • Colours according to CMYK standard
  • 150 - 300 dpi (we will not accept lower than this dpi to keep the quality)
  • PNG / Tiff / Ai / PSD, 4 types of electronic files only
  • Transparent background (we will print all the color on fabric/t-shirt if you have any color on background)
  • Size of graphic printed will be the same as the size of graphic received
  • Don't leave any white borders (see diagram below)

    • 圖案顏色統一以CMYK模式為標準
    • 圖案解像度以150-300 dpi 為標準 (我們不會接受比這更低的DPI以保持品質)
    • 圖案格式只收PNG/AI/PSD/TIFF四種
    • 圖案底色一定要透明底 (如果您有任何背景顏色,我們都會將所有顏色打印在布/ 恤上的)
    • 收到的圖案大小要跟印花尺寸一样
    • 收到圖案四邊不要留有空白位 (如下圖所所示)

    Cotton T-shirts typically printable size is up to A4 size (21cm x 29.7cm) and A3 (29.7cm x 42cm). If you have an accurate printing area, please specify the area. If you want to print on sleeves or other special position, please feel free to email us at info@tpassion.com to order.

    Q8: How long do we keep your graphic record?

    Once a customer places an order for digital printing, we will keep your graphic record for 3 months:

    • If you order again with some graphic, no need to send the graphic again.
    • If you order again with different graphic, please send your  new graphic to us.

    一旦顧客决定數碼印刷的訂單,我們將會為您保存您的圖形記錄至3個月:

    Q9: Do you supply eco-friendly trims & packaging?

    Hitprint offers environmentally friendly trims and accessories to complement your certified organic T-shirts. We provide poly bags, hang tags, heat-transfer labels and other trims and accessories according to OEKO TEX and GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standards) standards. Biodegradable bags are also available. Please contact us at info@mecilla.com for further information.
